Weight of Air
Closed performance session
Weight of Air explores how bodily movement gives temporary form to forces that normally remain invisible.
Suspended in aerial fabric, the body enters a field of flour. The fabric receives, carries and redirects its weight; every shift of tension displaces the surrounding air. Flour does not illustrate the movement—it responds to it. The work is built around a physical contradiction: the body rises while matter falls. Between ascent and descent, an unstable image appears, produced by movement and already disappearing.
Flour gives the air a temporary body.

A temporary consequence
The cloud is not a background or theatrical effect. It is produced by the action itself: a short-lived physical consequence of contact, effort and movement. Photography arrests one of these impossible states—not a pose, but what the body sets in motion around itself.

The body enters a field of particles. Movement gives the surrounding air a temporary, visible form.

Pressure and contact redirect both fabric and flour, making each physical action visible in the space around the body.

The fabric makes ascent possible through tension, while matter continually returns to the ground.

The expanding cloud is not a backdrop. It is an image produced directly by gesture, effort and displacement.

For a brief moment, body and particles share a state of suspension before their trajectories separate.

The photograph holds an unstable configuration that the action itself cannot preserve.
